Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most popular Chinese holidays on the fifteenth day of the eighth Lunar month . The moon is at its brightest, roundest state in the year and it takes on a reddish glow on this day. Today, people like going out to attend special performances in parks and viewing the full silver moon after a big and delicious family reunion dinner.

Lanterns are a popular feature of the festival. The most common ones are paper lanterns wrought in traditional styles. Hence today, there are many varieties of lanterns made of different shapes and materials, such as animals, automobiles and robots etc.

Mooncakes are a traditional food of the festival. These palm-sized round cakes with sweet fillings of lotus seed paste and duck egg yolks symbolize the moon, as well as family reunion and perfection. Many types of mooncakes have gradually been evolved over the years. Snowy mooncakes, ice cream mooncakes and green tea mooncakes are today favourite tastes.
